About this website: cannabislegal.de went online in December 2000 with the aim of stimulating an informed public debate on the present and future cannabis policy in Germany. On this site we collect and present news, scientific studies, policy papers, opinions and anything else that will help people conduct an intelligent debate on this controversial subject. We encourage our visitors to educate themselves on the subject and then to participate in shaping public opinion by exercising their freedom of speech. We ask visitors to write letters and emails to newspapers and politicians. An A4-size leaflet and a 36-page booklet provide the most essential information on the subject. Our weekly newsletter, modelled on DRC Net's "The Week Online", provides up to date and concise information on new developments for German speaking readers.
Who we are: We are members and supporters of the Verein für Drogenpolitik e.V. (Association for Drug Policy), a non-profit organization working for harm-reduction oriented drug policies in Germany. We are not associated with any political party but maintain contacts to all of them, from the socialist PDS to the conservative CDU/CSU.
